The exquisite Rieslings from Weingut
Mosbacher are always also an introduction
to the terroirs of the top sites in
Forst, Deidesheim and Wachenheim. Sabine
Mosbacher-Düringer and her husband Jürgen
Düringer manage to make all the differences
deliciously detectable. Their Grosses Gewächs
from the Forster Ungeheuer site thus moves
centre stage. One of our tasters noted that
“both nerve and minerality come with high
voltage” in this wine. And we should not forget
their idiosyncratic Sauvignon Blanc
“Fumé”. We simply would like to have more
of these delightful liquid lessons of terroir.

Tangy and fruity on the nose; ripe peach and a hint of blackcurrant,
plus light stony notes. The palate is a paradigm of
the Ungeheuer; powerful with a strong core, enigmatically
mild and supple with nerve and minerality supplying high

The bouquet shows apple and candied citrus fruit, apricot,
herbs and flowers. Slenderly built with vivid and integrated
acidity and citrus fruit. Finely balanced elements, shows elegance
and also its origin with a pronounced mineral timbre.

92 2019 »Fumé« Sauvignon Blanc trocken
Compact and spicy nose with ripe gooseberry and redcurrants,
floral notes. On the palate; juicy with a nice spiciness,
well built and harmonious in proportion. Shows elegance and
an independent, local interpretation of an international
grape variety. Impressive. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€
91 2019 »Basalt« Riesling trocken
Stone fruit on the nose with herbs, apple and mirabelle
plums, as well as warm stone. Opens with a sophisticated
and juicy acidity on the palate, fine herbal tartness, ripe
stone fruit and a slight saltiness - a Riesling rich in nuance
91 2019 Deidesheim Leinhöhle Riesling
Erste Lage trocken
Apple and apple peel on the nose, apricot, herbal and mineral
hints. On the palate there is a clear mineral foundation,
herbs and citrus fruit, kumquats and grapefruit. Well
integrated acidity, clear contours and clear expression.
