The name of the estate may sound martial,
but there is no need to fear the
Rieslings or Scheureben which grow on
the Heilger Blutberg – a monopole site of a
mere three hectares. The times when monks
were executed here are long gone. What happens
today is much more pleasant: Brothers
Christian and Martin Hannemann, the fourth
generation, took their family estate over in
2018 – and evidently they are going full throttle.
They manage to convert the conditions of
the black volcanic soils into mineral-driven,
dry and classically fruity Kabinett wines.

Riesling trocken
Passion fruit and coriander seed, blood orange, a spicy fruit
scent. On the palate very finely-staged, powerful extract,
clear minerality, fine phenolics, ripe acidity, restrained
sweetness supporting the volume. Marked by its terroir.

Riesling Kabinett
Citrusy and spicy aromas with caraway, almond and hints of
wood notes. Very classic on nose and palate: light, with racy
acidity and a real Kabinett sweetness that is only delicately
apparent on the finish. Mineral background.

Riesling Kabinett
A hint of petrol on the nose, blotting paper, but also mirabelle
plum. Soft in the attack for a short moment, then juicy
with a firm acid backbone, elegant Kabinett lightness, a little
mineral underlay with a fine spicy finish.

Strawberry and rhubarb jam on the nose, lemon, fresh and
clear. Crunchy acidity, juicy and light on its feet, restrained
90 2019 »Melaphyr« Weinheim Riesling tr.
Slightly floral fragrance, jasmine, cherry blossom, tangerine,
also a little bit flinty and mineral. Well-built palate,
firm acidity, restrained sweetness, fresh and slightly tangy
with lots of juiciness on the finish. Elegant, mineral style.
