For more than two hundred years, the
Zink family ran a farrier’s smithy while
making wine alongside. While iron
glowed in the smithy’s embers, wines fermented
in the cellar underneath. Now, three symbols
designate the differentiation between the
wines. The wines for everyday drinking carry
a horseshoe, the anvil denotes the more complex
wines, while the hammer stands for power
and filigree structure. We really enjoyed the
stylish Riesling, a finely-spiced red blend and
the juicy Bacchus made from old vines. We already
look forward to tasting the next vintage.
90 2018 Dalsheim Hubacker Riesling trocken
Complex aromatics of yellow fruit, peach, mango and apricot,
accompanied by fine smoke and spice. Lean and firmlybuilt
on the palate, good extract, shows structure and also
density, pleasurable sweetness-acidity interplay, combines
complexity with drinking pleasure. 12,5 Vol.-%. DIAM
and a noticeable sweetness on the finish. Medium structure
and length. 9,5 Vol.-%. DIAM

Barrique trocken
Honeydew melon on the nose with caramelised walnuts,
pear and hints of vanilla. Broad on the palate with a powerful
texture and good concentration. Textural and juicy, generous
in its dimensions with a sweet extract on the finish. Good use
of wood. A very youthful wine, good ageing potential.

Blend of Dornfelder, Pinot Noir and Blauer Portugieser. Aromas
of black cherry, blackberry and sultanas, fine herbs.
Fruity on the palate with light spice, powerfully-built with
ripe and juicy tannins, well-balanced. 13,5 Vol.-%. DIAM

Gewürztraminer Kabinett
Bright, clear yellow. On the nose some rose blossom, in addition
nutmeg, lemon zest. On the palate mild acidity wellbalanced
with flavours of rose water, peach juice, nutmeg
89 2019 »Alte Reben« Bacchus trocken
Fruit-driven nose of grapefruit, ripe mango and papaya
with hints of spice. The fresh acidity provides momentum
on the palate supporting it's slender stature. Concentrated
fruity style, juicy, spicy, elegant and playful. 12 Vol.-%, DIAM
