It is in Ramsthal, in Franken’s far north, that
the Neder family cultivates eleven hectares
of vineyards, almost all of them on steep
sites. “Wine has to be alive and should be allowed
to show a little profile, a little bite,” says
cellar master Lorenz Neder and admirably puts
his words into practice accordingly. His wines
are without affectation, are artisanal and have a
purist character. Just like his Silvaner “Ethos-
Klassik”, all the wines are convincing. Neder
also is a member of the Ethos Association, a
group of young winemakers that advocate an
environmentally more conscious viticulture.
Note that there also is a wine shop at the estate.

Silvaner trocken
Opulent, powerful nose with ripe apples, apple peel, cider,
smoke, herbs and a dash of rosehip. On the palate, soft and
supple with ample texture and also some sweetness, shows
power and force enhanced by well integrated alcohol. A savoury

Weissburgunder trocken
Ripe citrus fruit and acacia blossom on the nose subsequent
aromas of mirabelle plum and ripe apple. Powerfully composed
and with ripe acidity on the palate, tones of fine spice
as well as slight piquancy that sets fresh accents. Good substance,
medium complexity, enticing with food.

Weissburgunder Barrique trocken
Fragrant toasty aromas of barrique followed swiftly through
to ripe yellow fruit. On the palate there is power and also
force unfolding against a smooth background with some
spicy and stringent tones and dashes of greenish notes.

On the nose, herbal notes followed by apple peel, malt, some
caraway and yeast. Lean and taut on the palate, befittingly
dry with good substance, juicy and texture with vital acidity
and a decent mineral vein. Unpretentious, with inner values.

Herbal nose supported by scents of apple, blossoms, flower
meadows, fine malt and mineral hints. Lean and
straightforward on the palate, dense and with substance,
emphatically dry and subsequently natural flanked by
herbal notes and apple tones. Fine phenolics. Unembellished
- pure Silvaner. 12,5 Vol.-%, screwcap, €
