One might be apprehensive about tasting
the Pinot Noirs of the warm 2018
vintage; but in the case of Alexander
Stodden, fear not. The wines are so delicate
and precise, one would think there was some
sort of divine intervention undertaken between
the weather and vines! Even the Frühburgunder,
which, by rights, should suffer
most from the heat, comes with an extra helping
of density as well as real delicacy. However,
the crowning glory is the Mönchberg auction
wine and the Alte Reben from Herrenberg.

Red cherry scents in the complex aroma followed by redcurrants
and herbal notes with hints of rosemary and clove.
On the palate slender construction with good layering and
concentration that seems almost weightless, sour cherry,
finely-woven tannins and a sensitive vein of acidity. Precise
yet elaborate. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€
palate, great substance, impeccably ripe, mellow-grainy tannins.
Offers an ethereal and a solid side, accompanied by

Mineral-spicy aroma, with small red berries, almond, mint
and tree resin. The palate reveals an extremely fine extraction,
finest, almost weightless tannins. A lively thread of
acidity, accentuated by mineral nuances. A subtle Pinot Noir
with great inner strength. 13 Vol.-%. cork

Spätburgunder GG
Complex aromas of new wood, caramel, almond, dark berry,
sweet cherry and a hint of herbs. After air contact also "wild"
with spontaneous fermentation notes. Soft onset, then a
dense, mellow tannin texture, firm acidity, minerality, compact
finish. Needs time! 13 Vol.-%. cork

Delicate and fragrant: mineral-nuanced sweet cherry, herbal-spicy
notes, bay leaf and juniper. Dense and grippy on the

Blueberry on the nose, teriyaki sauce and cherry compote,
fresh bay leaf and zesty orange notes prevail. Creamy on
the palate, there is mild acidity and fine fruit, the strong
tannins provide contour, has the substance and spice of
the vintage, but also elegance and depth.
