Loud notes are not something you encounter
at Weingut Wöhrle in Lahr. Just as well
that Markus and Tanja Wöhrle have no
need of them. For years now, they have presented
wines that play in the top ranks, also well beyond
Baden, and which speak for themselves. Markus
Wöhrle manages masterfully to meet the very varying
conditions of each vintage. While he translated
the 2018 heat into balanced substance, the
2019 wines again show more edge, poise and
drive. The Spätburgunders from 2018, of course,
are in a class of their own. Even if the white Grosse
Gewächse were not presented we can safely say
that this is a maginficent range of wines!

Erste Lage trocken
Fine fragrance of redcurrants leaf, violets, yellow peach and
lime zest. On the palate, the very lively acidity carries the yellow
fruit as well as a slight almond note. A smoky note also
develops into a good finish on the medium-weight body .

Spicy new wood, citrus notes, sweet cherry, floral notes. On
the palate a dense combination of suppleness, grippy tannins
and fine acidity. Lots of juice, wonderful proportions,
rich fruit, a real mouthful of Pinot. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Medium intensity on the nose with a scent of clove, peach,
lemon zest and a slight almond note. On the palate, the lively
acidity balances these aromatics. This is followed by a pleasant
aroma of redcurrants leaf and smoky minerality.

Almond and bay leaf on the nose, subtle wood spice.
Full-bodied palate, densely filled with sandy, impeccably ripe
tannins, integrated acidity, mineral base, all components
naturally proportioned - currently slightly closed but with excellent
potential. Long finish! 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
92 2019 Lahr Gelber Muskateller trocken
Some yeast and an intense spiciness of freshly grated nutmeg.
Also slightly peppery. On the palate there is juicy, fine
acidity which counterbalances a lean but still intense impression.
A long lasting, grapey finish.
