This long-standing estate of Fürst Hohenlohe
Oehringen, now run by the
27th generation of the family, presented
a superior and homogenous range of wines
– amongst which the wines of the “H.A.D.E.S.”
series stand out. Especially impressive are cellar
master Joachim Brand’s top red blends “Ex
flammis orior” and “In senio” which apart
from the local Lemberger contain Cabernet
Franc, Merlot and Malbec – grape varieties
that have their home usually much further
south. Likewise, both the “H.A.D.E.S.” Chardonnay
and the Riesling Verrenberg give much
joy – this organic estate is on excellent form.

Subtle wood, hints of meadow herbs, nutty notes and a dash
of sesame. Silky and round on the palate, subtle yeasty nuances
and minerality in the background and yet also poised
and generous. A very stylish Chardonnay that is gastronomically
versatile. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Fresh and citrusy fragrance of lemongrass, mandarin and
fresh lemon zest. Delicate phenolics, firm but also ripe acidity.
A stately Riesling, minerally-underpinned, unembellished

Dark cherry red hues. On the nose fine red fruit, cherry, sloe,
raspberry, blackberry and some smoke. On the palate refined
tannins, ripe and nicely-integrated acidity with cherry nuances.
Minerality, elegance and a powerful structure followed by
a good length and textural finish! 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Dark red hues. On the nose sumptuous and attractive dark
fruit, blackberry, ripe cherry, raspberry, spice and hints of
smoke. On the palate tension and substance, fine tannins,
lively acidity, cherry and blackberry nuances with hints of
dark chocolate. Good length, powerful. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Dark, rich red. On the nose ripe cherry, smoke, spice, eucalyptus
and plum. Full and dense on the palate with ripe tannins,
balanced acidity, dark fruits, some cocoa, lots of spice
and tension. Good structure, ideal for those who like power-driven
wines. Good length, pairs well with red meat.
