Weingut Schwab is above all dependable:
vintage upon vintage
can be relied upon: the entry-level
wines are classic varietal representations that
come with freshness, fruit, juiciness and balance.
In the upper reaches of the range the
wines show complexity, style and provenance,
like the powerful “Grosses Gewächs” Rothlauf,
for instance, or the substantial Riesling
from the Scharlachberg site. The sweet wines
also turn out exquisitely well, like the elegant
Riesling Auslese. The reds, like the savoury
and mineral Spätburgunder from the Johannisberg
site show real presence!

Rothlauf Silvaner GG
Pear and apple show up next to toasted aromas on the nose,
also notes of quince and nut. On the palate there is power and
density, a firm structure, also from the wood ageing; ripe acidity
and discreet sweetness come together. Still youthful, good

Riesling Erste Lage trocken
Apple and apple peel on the nose, ripe stone fruit, grapefruit,
herbaceous and stony notes. Juicy on the palate, with ripe
acidity and fine spice in a powerful and firm texture; lots of
wine and substance. Not a lightweight, perfectly coherent.

Silvaner Erste Lage trocken
Apple, melon and pear in the powerful aroma followed by
white flowers, hops, fine smoke and also a hint of butterscotch.
Powerfully structured with muscle on the palate,
good volume and medium density, insistent fruit accompanied
by spice. Consistent and with good length.

Rich, clear yellow. On the nose some sort of matchstick aroma,
lime, hot stones, pear jam, herbal spices and a hint of
honey. On the palate lots of texture, well-integrated acidity,
citrus again, papaya. Good structure with potential. Nice

Smoke and cherry on the nose with wild strawberry and
also raspberry. A well-balanced Pinot Noir with a powerful
yet elegant structure, cherry again on the palate, ripe tannins,
fine spice and also mineral hues. Classically beautiful,
