Zipf from Löwenstein who has made a
good name for himself as a member of
the wine group “Junges Schwaben” (i.e. young
Swabia). Zipf focuses on traditional and intense,
non-mechanised labour in the vineyard
while “artifice in the cellar” is frowned upon –
no fining and filtration here. Ever since 2016,
all the wines have been fermented spontaneously.
His “Junges Schwaben” blend in particular
impresses with power and charm and
the Lemberger from the Wohlfahrtsberg site
snaps at its heels. We also like that Zipf continues
to champion Silvaner.

Riesling trocken ***
Ripe apple, peach and pineapple scents with a dash of petrol,
smoke and floral notes like leafy greens. On the palate there
is good volume and a firm, powerful structure with restrained
fruit; flanked by supporting ripe acidity. Pepper
notes in the finish, potential. 13 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€
and consistent, the tannins are ripe and gripping. Good potential.

Ripe peach and mango aromas, citrus fruit, yellow flowers
and a hint of brioche. On the palate there is good freshness
and crispy acidity, playful mousse with fine sparkles. Slenderly-built
sparkling wine with charm. A versatile gastronomic

Wohlfahrtsberg Cuvée trocken BF/PN/ME
Cassis and peppers initially, followed by blackberry and spicy,
floral accents. Well-balanced on the palate, the powerful
body is coated with velvety charm, soft and qualitative tannins.

Powerful and spicy aroma, blackberry, juniper berry, black
forest ham, black cherry and also wet leather. Dry on the palate

Wohlfahrtsberg Silvaner trocken ***
Ripe pear and yellow apple on the powerful nose, along
with meadow herbs, spices and toasted aromas. On the
palate medium-bodied, juicy and with a nice spiciness and
clear fruit expression, with pear and also notes of meadow
herbs. A balanced and compact Silvaner.
