The future looks bright for the Gröhl
family: they have a diverse portfolio of
sites covering 25 hectares, stretching
from Weinolsheim all the way to the Roter
Hang, or Red Slope, in Nierstein. Daughter
Franziska and son Johannes, the thirteenth
generation of the family, are now supporting
their parents Angela and Eckehart Gröhl and
contribute fresh ideas. We tasted a diverse and
multi-faceted range of wines of which a number
of wines stood out: the mineral Riesling
from Pettenthal and the elegantly-woven Pinot
Noir from the Niersteiner Hölle. Flawless!

Bright fruit, finely-concentrated, floral nuances, fresh stone
fruit, apricot and mirabelle plum, fine minerality and structure.
On the palate fine, flowing, stony, yet deliciously juicy,
lightly spicy, delicious bitter tones, fine acid structure, citric
traction. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
90 2019 Nierstein Ölberg Riesling trocken
Rich, fresh nose with fine grip, yellow-green fruit and a hint of
light pepper. Juicy on the palate with mineral-fresh acidity,
lemon zest, light orange and stone fruit and meadow herb.
Lively, mineral and finely-grained towards the finish.

Pinot Noir trocken
Fragrant nose with toasted notes, autumnal hints, violets,
light berries, also some pastry. Finely-woven on the palate,
discreet cherry fruit and balanced acidity. Violets, nutty and
toasty tones, discreet juice and grippy tannin.

Riesling trocken
Fresh yellow fruit, notes of orange, ripe and at the same
time fresh hints with some limestone minerality. Juicy,
round and full-bodied on the palate. Light peach, orange
zest, fine bitter tones and tangy, playful acidity.
