This relatively new estate – it was only in
January 2018 that Weingut Heilmann
and Weinanbau Brönner merged into
Weingut Heilmann & Brönner – excellently
manages to do the splits between accessible
every-day wines and demanding single-site
wines. Thus the hale and hearty entry-level
Riesling “Heilmännchen” has as its counterpart
a veritable terroir Riesling from the Wasserloser
Schlossberg site, and the cleverly balanced
“summertime”-blends sahre the stage
with the carefully extracted Sankt Laurent.
At this level, the ascent to the two-star-category
no longer too distant.

Riesling Spätlese trocken
In the fragrance tangerine, yeast, with a flinty, mineral, spicy
undertone. Juicy and discreet on the palate, mealy phenolics,
ripe acidity, good density, strong tactile mineral notes at
the end. A quite complete, well-developed single-vineyard
wine. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€

Passion fruit and vine peach, finely nuanced on the nose. Firm
onset of Riesling acidity, full-bodied on the midpalate, compact
and closed on the finish. Medium weight in density and length.

Bitter chocolate, rum raisin, discreet wood on the nose. On
the palate, a fine grain of tannin on a supple but not excessively
soft base, medium density, good proportions, well-integrated
and ripe acidity. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Spätburgunder Spätlese trocken
Some herbs, sweet cherry and milk chocolate. Fine-grained
tannins, already relatively mellow, ripe acidity, good body
and density, the alcohol is well integrated. A powerful Pinot
Noir that shows the warmth of the year in a charming way.

Fruity aromas of black cherry and milk chocolate, plus
some wild herbs and slightly yeasty notes. On the palate
