run their estate of 17 hectares in
Gau-Algesheim. Cellar master Hermann
Weber makes his wines in a traditional
and classic style – the wines show substance
and power and come into their own when
paired with hearty food. The red wines, like
the concentrated Frühburgunder (aka Pinot
Noir Précoce) from the Johannisberg site are
characterised by their maturation in wood.
Then there are real surprises: where else would
you still find a Spätlese of Schönburger!

Ripe pear on the nose, with yellow fruit and apricots. On the
palate, full-bodied with a lot of texture, substance and a ripe,
supporting acid structure. The fine sweetness supports the
full-bodied character, classic style, good companion to

Rich, clear yellow. On the nose rose water, apricot, ripe
peach. Mild acidity on the palate, rose water, noticeable, grippy
sweetness, bright fruit. Medium structure and length.

Ripe pear and apple on the nose, banana and some buttermilk.
Powerfully-built on the palate, clear sweetness underpins
the palate, which is balanced by a vivid acidity. A lot of
juice and texture. Ideal for fans of harmonious wines.

The nose is dominated by toasty wood aromas, charcoal but
also attractive red fruit, cherry and redcurrant. Powerfully-built
on the palate with good concentration and substance,
lean acidity balanced with the integrated alcohol.

Fully-ripe fruit on the nose, mango and papaya, blade mace
and freshly-grated nutmeg. On the palate, freshness and
sweetness combine in a pleasurable liaison alongside ripe
