Under the management of Bastian Klohr,
the Weinbiet Manufaktur has evolved
into one of the most extraordinary
cooperative business models. More than 50
members farm 325 hectares of vines together.
“We proudly carry the name of the 554m/1818ft
high mountain that majestically sits above us,
lending its protection,” the cooperative reports
which has a cellar master in Patrick Öttl who
knows how to lend a contemporary interpretation
to Pfalz wine culture. The Philipp-Bassler-
Series represents the top wines, like the mineral
Riesling from 70-year-old, ungrafted vines.

The multi-layered nose already indicates that this wine will
occupy the palate: citrus fruit, grapefruit and passion fruit on
the nose, also ripe peach. The palate is juicy with a nice spiciness,
the acidity is balanced and delicate, the minerality has

White flowers on the fragrant nose, mirabelle and apricot,
apple and also pear, a hint of elderflower. Juicy and creamy
on the palate, this soft impression is complemented by a noticeable

Finely matured bouquet with cassis, black cherry, black olives,
rosemary, black pepper and a little menthol. Powerful
