It is the first time that Winzer von Erbach
are featured here, a co-op with 31 members.
They harvest mainly Riesling and
Spätburgunder on 33 hectares of vines across
Erbach, Kiedrich and Rauenthal. Painstaking
work in the vineyards, lays the foundation for
healthy and aromatic grapes. “Small but exquisite
is our motto,” this cooperative reports
and hits the nail on the head. We tasted a sophisticated
range of wines with a very appetising
sparkling Riesling, a fine TBA and a formidable
Pinot Noir. A strong debut!

Riesling Kabinett feinherb
Citrus fruit, candied lemon peel, a neat, fresh aroma. Lean
and typical for a Kabinett on the palate: restrained sweetness
and a lively acid backbone, accompanied by minerality.
A wonderfully juicy, sophisticated Kabinett.

again, sultana, densely woven structure, texture, good
length. Will have a long life. 6,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€€

89 2019 Cabernet Blanc
Quite clear on the nose: elderflower, mint, paprika. Balanced
on the palate, ripe acidity, discreet fruit-supporting sweetness,
a harmonious example of the variety, not greenish, yet
fresh. Finally, a lot of juiciness and even a little texture.

91 2015 Pinot Noir Auslese trocken
Some roasted coffee on the nose, fig compote, candied cherry
and caramel. On the palate there is fine energy, a creamy
base and a rich dose of fine-grained tannins. Full-bodied with
ripe acidity, good harmony and full of potential due to its noble
extract. 15 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
91 2015 Erbach Honigberg
Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese
Honey yellow, clear. On the nose dried fruits, sultanas, baked
fruit, spice, forest floor, fir honey, spice. On the palate very
concise sweetness, rather restrained acidity, dried fruits
90 2018 Riesling extra brut
Discreetly yeasty, a little lemon balm, citrus, fresh and
spicy. On the palate it starts smoothly, with quite fine
mousse and fine acidity. A very appetising sparkling Riesling
from the Rheingau; pleasingly dry and yet not harsh.
