reports Dominic Stern who runs this
winery in Hochstadt with its eleven
hectares of vines. His “Pinot Noir Réserve”
from the 2018 vintage bears this out. One of
our tasters described it as a “charming powerhouse”.
The two Rieslings from Mittelhaardt
sites also turned out brilliantly well – the one
from the Forster Ungeheuer scores with striking
minerality. The sparkling Pinot, “Pino-
Times”, made in collaboration with Aloisiushof
in St. Martin, is also full of character.
Dominic Stern has only just got started.

Multi-layered and densely intricate fragrance with peach and
apricot, also citrus fruit, stony-mineral hints. Well judged
texture on the palate, delicate fruit and juiciness is offset by
the striking minerality of the Ungeheuer. Young and talented.

Subtle peach on the nose, leafy green, mineral streaks, spicy
notes. Juicy on the palate with clear and beautiful fruit expression
over a mineral foundation. Sweet extract, spicy,
slenderly built, unfolds elegantly. Full of character.

91 2018 »Pinot Noir Réserve« trocken
Powerful aroma with smoky notes and ink, roasted coffee
beans, black cherry, juniper berry and incense. Shows the
power and substance of the warm year, lots of spice and
warmth, prominent and ripe tannins, ripe acidity that blends
in well, charming. A powerhouse. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
90 2019 Forst Ungeheuer Riesling Spätlese
Peach and apricot on the nose, some leafiness, honey waffles.
On the palate there is good concentration and lively
acidity. Unfolds nicely with fruity notes, not too lush, dynamic,
with good balance and mineral undertones. Elegant.

91 2013 »PinoTimes Rosé« brut
Copper-coloured. Powerful nose, rosehip, woodruff, hops,
malt, caramel and smoke. On the palate there is silkiness
in this powerful texture, fine acidity and fine mousse, solid
and spicy. Strong character, a dream for sommeliers.
