You can always rely on Karl-Ernst Zimmermann’s
accessible wine style. Clear
fruit and freshness are central to his
white wines, like the eminently gluggable Gutedel,
aka Chasselas, the local hero of the
Markgräflerland, which often also comes with
a dollop of sweetness. Zimmerman also
knows how to handle wines matured in small
barrels: his Grauburgunder “Reserve Rhine
Hill” is spicy and comes with a firm structure.
The red wines show both substance and varietal
character, like the generous Merlot “Angel
Hill”. You can also enjoy these wines in the
wine inn that forms part of the estate.

Grauburgunder trocken
Medium gold in colour, caramel on the nose, honeydew melon,
candied walnuts and ripe pear. Juicy and soft on the palate,
the ripe acidity supports the balanced character, fine
spice and texture, not too sweet, good volume, medium extract.

On the nose red apple and meadow herbs, also pear peel. On
the palate there is luscious fruit, slender and filigree structured,
freshness and liveliness, animating acidity, juicy and
with a charming portion of sweetness. A cheerful and carefree

Dark chocolate, camphor and black pepper, plus buttery
notes with a whiff of oak. Soft and supple onset, poised with
sandy tannins in a rather medium amount, sweet fruit,
creamy background, caramel-like wood flavours which last.

Wild raspberry on the nose, semi-bitter chocolate, some
herbs. On the palate "warm" and full, mellow tannins in medium
doses, ripe acidity, integrated alcohol, some cherry as

The expressive nose shows typical characteristics of the
grape variety such as blackcurrant, mango and passion
fruit, also green pepper and spice. On the palate, sweet,
pure fruit flanked by lively acidity, mango again. Wellbalanced,
