Heiko Bamberger has delivered a fireworks
display – and we congratulate
him on his third star! His wines
convinced us with their focused, nuanced and
elegant nature, they are not loud and never
come across as “made”. Instead, they show
their natural habitat and terroir, like the subtle
Riesling from the Monzinger Frühlingslätzchen
or the mineral Weissburgunder from
the Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg. We also
have great enthusiasm for Bamberger’s Sekts –
above all his aristocratic “Decade – I” from the
2009 vintage. A gently fizzing sensuality captured
in a kind of time capsule.

A little incense merges with the ripe stone fruit of apricot
and mirabelle plum plus orange zest, almond and a fine
yeasty spice note. Slenderly-built on the palate with a lot of
spice, concise acidity, grippy and with enormous mouth-content
and an elaborate mousse. Seamlessly-bound, long on
the palate. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Frühlingsplätzchen Riesling trocken
On the nose clean, round with fine minerality and depth followed
by light yellow fruit, orange, some vine peach, apricot and stone
notes. Flowing on the palate there is imminent acidity and finelyconcentrated
citrus fruit, slightly drying phenolics in the midpalate
but centred and fresh on the finish. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Riesling trocken
Bright fruit on the nose, stony, meadow herb, red apple, green banana,
floral notes and delicate spice. Juicy and fresh on the palate,
bright orange and sweet lemon, grippy acidity and fine phenolics.
Charming, mineral, juicy and focused.

On the nose, interwoven light mineral notes, with ripe white
peach. Bright fruit with a firm concentration on the palate. Discreet
fruit sweetness, filigree but tight citrus acidity, elegant
