Axel Gysler’s resolute attitude is to be
admired: he has worked according to
biodynamic principles since 2004,
longer than most wine growers in the country.
“Working with nature for us is craftmanship,
the result is a cultural product and a pleasure,”
he reports. He farms twelve hectares of vines
around Alzey, the slightly cooler climate there
and the constant winds characterise his wine
style. All his wines have something in common
and show their provenance. They carry names
like “Sternenglanz” or “Klangwerk”: This
may well sound poetic but it is expressed in the
material substance of the wines.

Riesling trocken
Notes of spontaneous fermentation on the nose, herbs, malt,
apple skin, dark spices. On the palate juicy and spicy with a
powerful structure, ripe fruit, good extract, power and also
tension, citric notes, condensed on the mid palate, mineral
and elegant. 13 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€
citrus fruits, taut and tightly-woven and phenolic tartness
provides highlights. Coherent and complete, lean and rich.

Finely-nuanced nose with apple and citrus fruit, stone fruit,
spice, some lemongrass. Lean and taut with good proportions,
lots of juice, tension and also density, the acidity is
well-integrated; amazing what is packed into this slender

Deep colour and powerful aroma of wild raspberry, cherry,
blueberry and fine smoke. On the palate full-bodied, spicy
and with incisive acidity, well-integrated power, shows texture
and natural charm. Long on the palate, versatile at the

Spicy and floral notes, nectarine and some passion fruit,
blackcurrant as well. On the palate dry and spicy, juice of ripe

Fruity nose of fine, ripe fruit, guava, apricot and apple.
Juicy on the palate, slender structure, very finely-executed,
some freshly-grated lemon zest, fine phenolic tartness,
ripe and lively acidity, well-woven, elegant and delicate.
