This year we have to commence our discussion
of the current vintage with a
song of praise for the sweet wines: the
Beerenauslese from the Kanzemer Altenberg
presented by Roman Niewodniczanski and
Dominik Völk simply left us speechless: what
an ethereal and subtle nature, what inherent
power and momentum, what crystalline clarity…wow!
The dry wines are no less thrilling –
and in 2019 we see the Scharzhofberger simply
of equal stature alongside the Pergentsknopp.
This, of course, is a snapshotof that
particular moment – in any case: everything is
magnificent here!
95 2019 Wiltingen Volz Riesling GG
Stone fruit on the nose, apricot, apple, citrus fruit, floral
notes, herbs. Tautly built on the palate, dense and tightly woven,
ripe, well-integrated acidity, fine sweetness, also tartness
and phenolic hints. Intense and with a mineral base,
good potential. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Pergentsknopp Riesling GG
Herbal spice in the powerful aroma, fine smoke, apple and
stone fruit, also wet slate. On the palate there is a crystalline
acidity that runs pleasantly through the taut texture with a
discreet sweetness and freshness that intermingle well. Tart
notes emerge as well on the consistent and long finish.

Notes of spontaneous fermentation on the nose, herbs, apple,
malt, also spicy and peppery notes. On the palate there is
good balance, dense and bundled in an calm yet insistent
way with a cultivated acidic vein. Spicy and mineral, yet noble
and with profile. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Riesling Beerenauslese
A very delicate botrytis scent followed by citrusy, fresh-fruity
notes; crystalline and very clear on the nose. On the palate
there is brilliant freshness and minerality, not overly viscous,
lively and cultivated in the acidity, but without any aggression.
A Beerenauslese full of finesse. 5,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Fragrant nose of fresh hay, tangy spicy-slate nuances and
