There is hardly any need at all to talk
about the dry wines that Clemens
Busch and his son Johannes make: you
can blindly take your pick across the range
and will be confronted with a wine of extraordinary
depth, precisely defined site character
and the kind of ageing potential that will document
delicacy for years and decades. This
year, however, we really want to draw your attention
to the residual and noble sweet wines
which effortlessly play in the same league as
the dry wines. We must also note that – considering
their category – they are unbelievable
bargains.

Terrassen GG Riesling
Warm slate and flint on the nose, ripe apricot, herbs, some black
tea and a hint of seaweed. At first accessible with fine sweetness,
layered complexity, typicity and character build up. Fine phenolics,
which rise sublimely, great format. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Obvious balsamic scents on the nose and filigree spicy slate notes
followed by red apple and blossom honey. On the palate there is
great volume, a lot of texture but at the same time incredibly gentle.
The finest phenolics, delicately sweet substance, raisin-like
aromas, long, deep, round. A sheer delight. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

A whiff into a spice box, Annapurna curry powder and then
some incense, followed by a fresh fruity scent of pineapple.
Taut and vertical on the palate, firm acid backbone, subtle
texture, no isolated sweetness. Intensely mineral and very
enigmatic, and immensely young. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Fine spices, delicate botrytis, almost dusty slate notes and
damp asphalt scents. Great density on the palate, electrifying
acidity, defensive sweetness, very intense minerality - almost
