Hanspeter Ziereisen is one of the most
original characters of German viticulture
– this is no longer a secret. But
there is far more than originality: Ziereisen’s
style in vineyard and cellar shows traces of
pure genius. He can actually afford to pack a
Grauburgunder with extract to bursting point
– even with colour! – without even a hint of
plumpness. He manages to make his Gutedel
resemble a spicy, concentrated Meursault.
And apart from all these virtuosic feats he still
has a fine talent for very affordable and wonderfully
down-to-earth entry-level wines.

Salmon pink with orange reflections. Scents of wood notes,
green walnut, apple peel tea, limestone and also citrus notes
followed by Pinot berries. Quite a mouthful, but made from
the finest elements, immensely young, deep and complex,
concentrated with dense acidity. Enormous potential!

Scent of limestone- savouriness, apple and some wood nuances.
Highly condensed on the palate, very mineral and phenolic, firm
acidity, immensely young with depth and substance for 20 years
of maturity. Enormous extract and that with the utmost finesse.
In the finish almost only tactile minerality. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

A still youthful cherry fruit aroma followed by some wood, coconut,
cinnamon notes, but also peppery, tree resin, candied orange
peel, herbal spice and a dash of ink. On the palate there is a lively
acidic nerve, wide-ranging, fine-grained tannins in medium-high
quantity. A dense, long, chalky finish. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Plum core, toasty, tarry notes, blackberry, elderberry pulp,
very fresh and some wood. Dense on the palate, taut, astringent
tannins and a vital acidity accompanied by peppery
notes, disciplined alcohol, taut and exciting. Future!
