Sometimes it is wonderful when nothing
changes. Last year we noted: “Andreas
and Bernd Spreitzer remain guarantors
for high class Riesling pleasure at fairly calculated
prices.” We simply cannot add more. Apart
from the fact, perhaps, that the 2019 wines even
have a touch more brilliance. Once again, the
“Alte Reben” Riesling from the Doosberg site
are outstanding – denoting the style of the entire
mid-segment. Among the Grosse Gewächse, it
is the Mittelheimer St. Nikolaus with its smooth,
mineral character that takes the top spot. The
noble sweet wines are balanced, full-bodied and
layered. Congratulations!

Complex and clear: rosehip and orange marmalade, allspice,
rose, beeswax. On the palate dense, slightly phenolic, juiciness
and suppleness are combined, delicious mineral hue.
The body has power but remains lean and light. Terpenic layers
on the finish. 13 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
93 2019 Hattenheim Wisselbrunnen Riesling GG
Clear, medium yellow. On the nose ripe, yellow fruit, mango,
peach, plus some white nougat. Juice and tension on the palate,
mineral, ripe citrus fruit, delicious phenolic layer. Refined.
Length with good acidity. Will develop nicely.

Clear honey yellow. On the nose dried fruits, apricot, fir honey,
date. Dense, powerful but fine and with candied citrus
fruit. Supple texture on the palate, oily, dense, dried fruits.
Fine vein of acidity provides tension. Big wine, lots of potential.

Clear, dark-honey yellow. On the nose deep, dark spice, fir
honey, dried tropical fruits, papaya, roasted almond; dense
and vivacious. On the palate dense texture, powerful fruit
sweetness, taut vein of acidity, densely woven, long, with
enormous potential. 7,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€€

Rich, clear yellow. Mineral nose, flint, lime, pineapple, papaya,
stimulating, rich. On the palate - centred, ripe acidity,
mineral coolness, citrus fruits, densely woven structure,
powerful and harmonious. Long, a wine with a lot of potential.
