Goldtröpfchen in Piesport. On the heavily
slate-influenced soils, he succeeds in bringing
forth savoury, tension-laden wines with beautiful
site expression – continuing a family tradition
that reaches back into the 17th century
with great ability and passion. He demonstrates
this talent just as well for the residually
sweet wines – they impressed us in particular
this year. The showpiece amongst them is the
full-bodied and balanced Auslese which has a
long term ageing potential.

Clear, medium yellow. Flint, lime zest, lemon balm and herbal
spice on the nose. On the palate, mineral traction, fine phenolics,
citrus fruits and red grapefruit. Overall good tension, medium
body and length. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Riesling feinherb
Clear, beautiful yellow. Fine citrus fruit, orange blossom,
peach and lime. Fine acidity on the palate, discreet sweetness,
balanced, somewhat phenolic, again ripe citrus fruit,
lemon balm and elderberry. Pleasant structure and length,
perfect with Asian dishes. 11,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Riesling Auslese
Clear, medium yellow. On the nose rich, ripe citrus fruits,
mango, peach, candied orange peel and hints of blossom
honey. On the palate lots of texture, ripe citrus fruit, honeydew
melon, some honey with a fine balance. Good structure
and length. 7,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese
Clear, medium yellow. On the nose flint, pink grapefruit, ripe
apricot and hints of pineapple. Texture and fine sweetness on
the palate, peach juice, dried fruits, good structure, medium
length. A ripe fruity finish. 8 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Spätburgunder trocken
Lots of cassis and wood spice on the nose, also blackberry,
black cherry and black pepper. Good concentration on the
palate with straightforward power, compelling grip and
high quality tannins, dark fruit and a slight astringency.
Good ageing potential. 13,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€
