The dry wines made by Sandra and
Horst Sauer may have been a tad more
balanced and convincing in the past, especially
the village wines. The noble sweet
wines, however, demand every respect: the Silvaner
TBA unites complexity, intensity and
feather-light sensuality in a compelling fashion.
Both Beerenauslesen of Silvaner and Riesling
are similarly brilliant, carried by the mineral
verve of the des Escherndorfer Lump site:
they pay homage to this great terroir. A round
of applause!

Riesling GG
Some wood, slightly herbaceous with some estery fruit
notes, candied pineapple and banana. On the palate, powerful
extract, a hint of green tones, taut acidity, strong tactile
mineral notes, fruity sweetness. A rather muscular Riesling
that still needs time. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€

Trockenbeerenauslese
Candied fruits are underlaid with fine botrytis spice, guava,
passion fruit and sultanas which are all defined and very
complex. On the palate, syrupy in consistency, penetrating
acidity but coherent in sweetness. Great composition for an
eternal life. 6,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€€

Riesling Beerenauslese
Strong, very slightly borderline botrytis, citrus notes, some
asparagus, smoky notes and limestone. Showing immense
tension on the palate, a penetrating acidity, good sweetness,
very long lasting, with almost astringent extract on the finish.

Silvaner Beerenauslese
Ripe peach on the clear nose and also green fruit, green apple,
apple peel, herbal spice and warm stone. On the palate there is
good balance, clear volume, good density and all components
are well-integrated. Sensitively balanced, fine, straight, acidic
