There are numerous winemakers who
exhibit soil profiles in their tasting
rooms to exemplify the differences in
the wines. At Weingut Graf von Weyher it is
sufficient to simply taste the Rieslings side by
side in order to grasp the different influences
of “Kalkmergel” (calcareous marl), “Granit”
and “Schiefer” (slate). It is a very practice-oriented
lesson that combines learning with
pleasure. In any case, what brothers Peter and
Jürgen Graf deliver makes complete sense.
Their savoury Spätburgunder from the Rhodter
Rosengarten site is a success, too. This is
the sort of geology course we all like to take!

Michelsberg Riesling trocken
Apple, verbena and apricot on the nose, lime zest, a touch of
cumin and aniseed. Relaxed on the palate, well built in stature,
ripe acidity, balanced and harmonious, fine spice and
mineral notes line the back palate. Clear profile.

Wet stone on the nose along with stone fruit such as ripe
peach and apricot. On the palate, the self-confident acidity
and fruit sweetness enter into a little duet, beautiful interplay.

Dark cherry on the nose with spice, cinnamon stick, bay leaf
and cloves, wood notes and beetroot. On the palate there is

stone, herbs, leafy green, plus apple and tangerine. On the
