Sommerhausen presented not one
but three mature vintage sparkling
wines – from 2008, 2012 and 2013, showing
that he has mastered all wine genres: Riesling,
Silvaner and Pinot-varieties turn out just as
well as aromatic varieties. The Gelber Muskateller
manages without a trace of kitsch, the
smooth ‘‘Mukatsilvaner’’ is our special Falstaff-Tip.
The “Grosse Gewächse” of Silvaner
and Riesling from 2018 show the power of the
warm vintage – but also a cleverly styled idea
of provenance.

Light gold with greenish hues. The bouquet is rich in aromas
ranging from slight tertiary notes to redcurrant and apple.
There is softness and poise on the palate with a very fine
chiseled mousse and ripe acidity. A full-bodied sparkling
wine that has matured to great suppleness. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork

brut nature
A fine, spicy fragrance with hints of tertiary notes followed
by marmelade and bitter orange. Taut acidity on the palate
with ripe and an almost creamy roundness in the mousse,
flanked by delicate pronounced fruitiness. A hint of minerality
with lots of juiciness on the finish. Well composed, mature
with a lovely nuance. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Subtle patina of evolving aromas of apple, leather, dried
lemon peel and garden herbs. A firm acidity with a restrained
dosage, very fine and yet voluminous mousse. A completely
self-contained varietal style with beautiful freshness in maturity.

Some linden blossom, slightly nutty tones, but still rather restrained
on the nose. On the palate full-bodied and poised,
rather mild acidity, suppleness and power show the vintage,
but the wine also has playfulness and a fine mineral structure.
