The wines made by Boris Kranz embody
an entirely calm kind of avant-garde.
This is what makes them as attractive
to lovers of classic styles as to those who tend
towards natural wine. We were really taken
with the way the Kalmit Weissburgunder
showed a subtle, spontaneous whiff of saltiness
before it had dissipated. The extraction of
tannins in the Spätburgunders also received
full marks from us and one of our tasters remarked
that the Kalmit Riesling reminded her
of wild silk: grippy in texture and simply unsurpassed
in its naturalness.

Deep, intense, nuanced and intricate. Red and green fruit, orange
blossom, stone fruit, sweet apple. Round and juicy on
the palate. Silken multi-layered texture. Exquisitely concentrated,
delicate phenolics and spiciness, mineral with citric

White and yellow blossom as well as apple on the nose, citrus
fruit, almond and fine spice. On the palate apple again
and a little cider, ripe and vivid acid structure, good substance
with a firm core and fine salty underpinning. Shows

Subtle spicy nose of cherry, herbs and fine smoke, some
black tea. On the palate vivid with tension, juicy and with
good freshness, the acidity is bright and well integrated.
Good texture, finely extracted tannins, elegant.

Deep, clear. Dark cherry, a little pencil. On the palate juicy
fruit and fresh acidity, sour cherry, finely structured, delicate

Riesling Erste Lage trocken
Fine, juicy, herbaceous, earthy minerality. Full bodied on
the palate, fresh, grippy. Juicy apple, ripe peach, melon,
dried lemon peel, stone dust. Fine phenolics, still slight astringency
and citric acid structure. 13 Vol.-%, cork, €€
