93 2018 Kallstadt Saumagen Riesling trocken
Beginning to unfold on the nose: balsamic and limestone
spice notes, floral, a mineral reduction hovers. Drive on the
palate, broad body, profound extract, layers of suppleness
and viscosity, ripe acidity. Great potential.

Last year we were rather taken by the
wines the Fusser brothers presented and
this year we can simply state: at this level
they are rather close to receiving their fourth
star. The breath-taking growth over the past
years was evidently accomplished without any
sacrifice of quality. Totally in line with the vintage,
the 2018 single-site Rieslings show good
substance and are somewhat broader, than
those of the 2019 vintage, which are utterly precise.
The two Spätburgunders from the Deidesheimer
Mäushöhle and Herrgottsacker sites
prove that the brothers also know how to handle
Pinot Noir. Wines with real style!

A hint of wood spice, curry and citrus, overall fruit and spice
still seem closed. Supple on the palate, vivid mineral motifs,
ripe acidity, powerful alcohol, a little broad in structure, but
mineral and with good extract. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€
93 2017 Deidesheim Mäushöhle
Spätburgunder trocken
Initially very reductive on the nose, only slowly opens into
notes of sour cherry and cranberry. Very dense on the palate,
juicy and with a fine nerve. Mineral tinged, with supple extract,
tight and full of potential. A Pinot with style.

92 2017 Deidesheim Herrgottsacker
Spätburgunder trocken
Milk chocolate and dark berries, elderberry, blackberry. On
the palate dense, fine grained, fresh tannins fill the frame
well, lively sophisticated acidity. A full bodied Pinot with
good fruit made for bottle ageing. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
91 2019 Ruppertsberg Riesling trocken
Initially peach on the nose, then nectarine and pineapple,
well-captured ripe but not overripe fruit. Smooth on the
palate and at the same time also juicy and fine-boned.
Slightly salty undertones, very good substance for Ortswein.
Impeccable balance, very good length.
