Tobias Lorenz knows exactly how to
translate the savoury slate minerality
from his steep sites – which he cultivates
with much backbreaking work – into his
wines. He manages to do that across the spectrum,
from his filigree Kabinett “Blauschiefer”
via the substantial dry “Alte Reben GG” to the
fascinating noble sweet top wines, like the Auslese
“Alte Reben” from the Pfarrwingert site.
In each and every one of these wines you can
virtually feel, smell and taste this winemaker’s
passion for his slate-dominated vineyards.
These are most authentic, localised Rieslings
at a very high standard.

Ripe apple and apricot on the nose, a hint of mint, also some
cider and herbaceous notes. Powerfully built on the palate
with good density and substance, firmly integrated, ripe and
spicy acidity and a salty undertone. Structured wine with
good potential for maturity. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€
and wonderfully integrated acidity, the flow and drinking
pleasure is downright challenged by the juiciness. Hard to resist.
