The cooperative of the Kaiserstühler Winzerverein<br />

Oberrotweil was founded in<br />

1935 in order to give the local growers a<br />

proper outlook for the future. Today there are<br />

around 220 members cultivating 420 hectares<br />

of vineyards in sites like Käsleberg, Henkenberg<br />

and Eichberg with much dedication. The<br />

different terroirs – there are loess and loam soils<br />

alongside the weathered volcanic soils – are the<br />

foundation of the diverse range of wines. However,<br />

this co-op does not only look back on a<br />

long history, it also relies on its young members<br />

who have really convinced us with their range<br />

called “557 m ü. NN.”. Do taste this!<br />

Fruity nose of pears and apples, also ripe stone fruit like<br />

peach, dried herbs. On the palate juicy and with a good dose<br />

of sweetness, clear, charming fruit, harmonious and balanced,<br />

with good substance, spicy finish, good on its own but<br />

also with food. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €<br />

powerful sweetness, honey, rather restrained acidity, fine<br />

phenolics, peach juice, roasted almonds, much power and<br />

Varietal bouquet with pear, apple, walnut and herbs. On the<br />

palate juicy and spicy with texture and juice, clear contours,<br />

not a Pinot Gris of the old Baden style, but precise and with<br />

ripe as well as balanced acidity, enjoyable with food.<br />

Spätburgunder trocken<br />

Some dried meat, sour cherry and herbal tones. Massive on<br />

the palate, fine-grained, ripe tannins, slight sweetness, but<br />

also a very present alcohol that dries the mouth a bit in the<br />

finish. Finally, a beautiful, accentuated berry fruit.<br />

Clear amber colour. On the nose fir tree honey, dried fruits,<br />

apricot, peach, quince and candied orange. On the palate<br />

Ripe yellow fruit on the palate, apricot and yellow apple, herbaceous<br />

notes. Juicy and spicy on the palate with a fine-nerved<br />

acidity, slender structure and coherent substance. You can feel<br />

the freshness of the high altitude, not too sweetly tuned, good<br />
