This year there are reasons to celebrate at
GutGallé: it was 25 years ago that Ortrud
and Klaus Gallé founded their estate
which has evolved ever since. Now, their
son Jonathan has a bigger influence where aesthetics
and style are concerned. Some of the labels
stand out with demonstrative colour but
the wines, too, show the courage to be individualistic:
like the Riesling La Roche with its
phenolic layers and limestone savouriness.
The Spätburgunder from the same site takes
the top spot where reds are concerned. The dry
Kabinett is most filigree. Congratulations!

Citrus fruit and apple on the nose with stone fruit, herbs and
spice. On the palate full-bodied with juicy yellow fruit, ripe
acidity and some lemon juice, firm and powerful structure,
spicy notes, chalky mineral underpinning, fine phenolic layering.

White flowers, ground almond, fine apricot with smoky, floral
and toasty aromas. Broad and juicy on the palate with a spicy
background, the acidity carries and comes with a slightly
salty accent, phenolic. Shows power and substance with elegant

Ripe grapefruit and gooseberry on the nose, also tomato leaf,
peppery spice, Asian spice and ripe yellow fruit. The palate is
attractively juicy and spicy with transparent expression, ripe
structure, good balance and also complexity.

Red fruit and also dark cherry with violets, raspberry, nice Pinot
scent with well-integrated wood spice. On the palate
there is beautiful spice with mineral background, compact
yet powerfully-built, dry, vivid acidity with good potential for
