It is now thirty years ago that Prof. Dr.
Georg Prinz zur Lippe managed to buy
back both the building and estate of
Schloss Proschwitz, piece by piece, and proceeded
to rebuild it with much energy and passion.
The entire family property had been confiscated
by the Soviets in 1945. Today Schloss
Proschwitz is not only the oldest private wine
estate in Sachsen, it is an institution of wine
culture. Currently 70 hectares of vines are being
cultivated; these wines are of a consistently
high standard, and possess a clear expression
and a mineral undertow.

Grauburgunder GG
A spicy note on the nose is reminiscent of Dutch gingerbread;
promising richness and fullness. The palate is indeed round,
generous and almost waxy in texture. Some phenolic bitterness
offers a graceful counterbalance. 14,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
90 2019 Kloster Heilig Kreuz Riesling Auslese
Clear, rich yellow. On the nose fine dried fruits, apricot,
quince, blossom honey, pineapple. On the palate smoke, undergrowth,
minerality, ripe citrus fruit and grippy acidity. Not
so much sweetness for an Auslese, good structure. Ideal with
spicy dishes. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Bing and Amarena cherry on the nose, also floral notes, violets
and blood orange. On the palate juicy, spicy and with a
slight pepper note. Medium body, good structure, grippy tannin,
slightly astringent - aims for balance and elegance - fine
acidity. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Rich honey yellow, clear. On the nose rose, blossom honey,
dried fruits, figs, dates, roasted nuts, mango. On the palate
sweet texture, creaminess, sweetness and acidity in balance,
densely woven, honey, ripe fruit. Good length, good potential.

The gentle floral scent is discreet yet persistent. It is followed
by a creaminess and a fine freshness which beautifully
counters the slightly smoky fruitiness on the palate.
A melting texture predisposes this as a wine for the table.
