If you like surprises, Weingut Gehring is the
right place for you. Apart from their rare
Gelber Orleans which garners most respectable
scores each year, they have now also
presented us with a “Kleiner Heunisch” that
convinces with spicy and Burgundian grace.
The Rieslings – e.g. from the Pettenthal site –
show the typical minerality of the “Roter
Hang”, in a most elegant fashion. Likewise, the
Pinot-varieties show sophistication and style.
Currently, Theo and Diana Gehring are being
supported by their daughter Gina who has finished
her vocational training as vintner. This
means we can look forward to further surprises.

Ripe stone fruit and citrus on the nose, the spiciness of the
site and a hint of petrol. Lightness of touch on the palate,
medium-weight, elegant, fine sweetness, filigree acidity,
beautiful flow and the minerality of the Roter Hang; fine astringency

Spicy and herbaceous with aromas of apple, apple peel and
toasted sesame. Juicy on the palate with mild, well-integrated
acidity. Soft impression and well-packed power underpinned
by noticeable minerality. Salty hints, full of character.

On the nose ripe stone fruit and Roter Hang character, herbaceous,
expressive, also dark aromas, apple skin, rosehip and
apricot. Ripe acidity on the palate in a powerful and clearly-defined
body, well-balanced, medium extract, fine phenolics

Smells of corn and flax, also ripe pear and yellow fruit with delicate
smoke. The palate is soft and textured, with power to come,

White flowers and smoky notes on the nose with pear, apple
and nectarine. Soft and spicy on the palate, good volume,
with Burgundian grace, fine use of wood, sweet extract,
clearly-emphasised fruit, restrained acidity, beautiful
interpretation of a rare grape variety.
