The wines made by this well-versed winemaking
duo Tanja Baumann and
Markus Kehrer are characterised by
their skilful maturation in wood and their ageing
potential. This is illustrated particularly
well by the reds from the 2015 and 2016 vintages,
like the powerful and spicy Lemberger,
the savoury Cabernet-blend and the serious
Trollinger. Right now they outshine the whites
which are quite something themselves. The
charming Gelber Muskateller is as clear as a
bell, both Eisweins are exquisite, as is the sophisticated,
barrique-aged “Reserve” and its
counterpart made in stainless steel.

Chardonnay, Schwariesling and Pinot Noir form the “Impulse”,
which has spicy scents of ripe fruit and brioche. Lean on the
palate, but with aromatic, spicy intensity, which accentuates
the silky, dry and pleasant texture. Good complexity.

On the nose, juniper berry, blackberry, wood, chocolate and
blood orange. On the palate powerful, full-bodied, spicy and
also soft, good substance and good volume. A Lemberger
that shows varietal typicity and individuality. Great with
game dishes. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
93 2018 »Reserve« Riesling Eiswein
im Barrique gereift
Honey yellow hues. On the nose smoke, toast, a little after aeration
dried fruit, honey and spice notes emerge. On the palate
fine sweetness-acidity interplay, well-balanced with a well-integrated
wood barrel aroma and fine phenolics accentuated
by honey spice, passion fruit and dried apricot nuances. Good
length and structure, potential. 9 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€

Honey yellow hues. Intense, spicy dried fruit, passion fruit,
candied orange peel and dried apricot scents. On the palate
lots of texture, good sweetness-acidity interplay, dried fruit
and preserved lime nuances, fine tension and a chiselled
structure. An ideal accompaniment to desserts. Good length
