How wonderful when there’s a breath
of fresh air! Imagination, experimentation
but also something really tangible
are at play here at Andreas Pfaffmann-Wiedemann’s
new project. The labels
clearly show that both authenticity and craft
can indeed be presented in an uncomplicated,
unstuffy fashion. Unusual, unconventional
taste pleasures should simply be fun. With varieties
like Grüner Veltliner and Cabernet Sauvignon
Pfaffmann-Wiedemann has left the
well-trodden Pfalz path, while the remarkable
Sauvignon Blanc, Weissburgunder and Riesling
stand like guards of honour.

Some boxwood plays on the creamy nose, there’s also a
touch of passion fruit, smoke and nettle. Fragrant and promising.
On the palate concentrated golden, ripe stone fruit and
juicy lemon appear embedded on yeasty, cloudy creaminess.

Creamy, smoky hints float pleasantly and promisingly on the
nose. The palate is round and fresh and the creaminess is interspersed
with a wonderful lemony freshness that gives the
whole wine a graceful lightness without sacrificing the
smooth texture. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Landwein trocken
Pronounced creaminess on the nose reminiscent of banana
yoghurt. Only on the palate comes freshness - the gentle,
ripe but pure fruit - the slightly smoky, nutty touch of oak elegantly
framed by the citrus fruit; both freshness and texture
have long resonance. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
90 2018 »Reserve« Cabernet Sauvignon
Landwein trocken
Wonderful dark plum and smoky blackberry fruit flirts from
the glass. There is even a fragrant hint of cassis. The palate is
juicy and the otherwise boisterous tannins of this variety are
90 2019 Riesling Landwein trocken
Both fresh and candied orange zest rise from the glass
with convincing ripeness and freshness. The palate is similar,
fresh but also round, ripe and wonderfully aromatic. A
slightly yeasty texture and lemony finish make you want to
