Hectares: 25 ha
The Hagenbuch family has made wine
for five generations. It was in 2017 that
brothers Tobias and Stefan took the
helm of the estate after their father Lothar had
laid the foundations for the development of
this estate. “We are full of drive and determination
for action and have the know how to
fulfil these requirements,” the brothers report.
Once again they show their talent with a spicy
Spätlese from Grauburgunder. Their Merlot
Blanc de Noir is highly unusual and shows almost
peppery spice. A new estate is just being
created in the neighbouring village of Flemlingen
– a project for the future.
90 2019 Grauburgunder Spätlese trocken
Spicy notes on the nose, walnut, quince and pear and blossom
honey. On the palate the classic Spätlese character
shows with ripe pear, honeydew melon, spice and well integrated
fruit sweetness. The ripe acidity works well and provides
excellent length. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
88 2019 Weissburgunder trocken
88 2019 Sauvignon Blanc trocken
Intense aromas of ripe mango, papaya, blackcurrant and ripe
melon. On the palate there is sweetish fruit and a fresh, appropriate
acid structure. Harmoniously balanced in a slender
body with ripe and fresh elements. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
88 2019 Spätburgunder Rosé trocken
On the nose strawberry fruit accompanied by raspberry and
floral notes, mint and tomato leaf. The palate displays all the
ingredients that make a coherent rosé: clear fruit, good
freshness and a juicy balance. Slenderly built, spicy and animated.
12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
89 2019 Gewürztraminer Spätlese
Slightly restrained herbal notes on the nose with floral
scents of violets and privet, as well as notes of ripe yellow
fruit and quince. On the palate, creamy sweetness with slight
acidity, a delicate appetising astringency lingers. Finishes
rather short. 10 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
89 2019 Blanc de Noir Merlot trocken
Tangerine and mirabelle plums on the nose, also raspberry,
redcurrants and floral notes. There’s a nice juiciness and
spiciness on the palate, almost a little peppery; ripe and restrained
acidity, a slight piquancy and salty, fine tannins.
An interesting interpretation. 12,5 Vol.-%, screwcap, €
