With his Beerenauslese Riesling from
the Mülheimer Elisenberg site,
Thomas Bauer accomplished a real
feat which promptly compelled us to award a
score of 94 points. The wine was the culmination
of a really convincing wine range in which the
well-balanced Riesling “GG” from the Elisenberg
site also stood out. Together with his father
Jörg, Thomas Bauer cultivates eight hectares of
vines in outstanding sites like the Mülheimer
Elisenberg. Showing the potential of these sites is
something this father-son team do with reliable
regularity. We already look forward to more
magnificent wine from Mülheim on the Mosel.

Rose petals and lemon balm in the appealing fragrance followed
by ripe apples, stone fruit and the juice of ripe pineapples.
Compactly built on the palate with good density and extract,
the acidity is ripe, as are the fruit notes, underpinned by
spicy slate nuances. Well balanced, with potential.

there is deep sweetness and a restrained acidity structure,
thus smooth and creamy juiciness; a hint of mint on the finish,

White and yellow flowers on the nose, very ripe apricot and
also mango with spicy notes. Pinot Blanc with fullness and
power and broadness, again very ripe fruit on the palate, lots
of juice and texture. Perfectly ripe grapes at harvest. A good

Riesling Beerenauslese
Caramel on the nose, dates, sultanas, smoky and stony
notes, apple and a whiff of tobacco. Great concentration, lots
of substance, great juiciness, mineral tones, crunchy and
perhaps not immensely complex, but downright animating in
an exciting way. Impressive. 7,5 Vol.-%. cork

Riesling Spätlese
Deep yellow in colour. On the nose ripe apples, stone fruit,
porcini mushrooms, leaves and fir tree honey. On the palate

Ripe apricot appears on the nose, soon joined by herbs and
spicy slate nuances with hints of crushed rock. Sweet and
juicy fruit on the palate (apricot again), the ripe acidity gallantly
leads through the clearly defined body, which is
tinged with slate spice nuances. Well balanced.
