Spanier do not have to shy away from
comparison with anything. The village
wines from “Erste Lagen”, as per the most recent
VDP-parlance, really taste of classified
sites while the Grosse Gewächse leave nothing
one could possibly desire from a Grand Cru
wine: The Frauenberg shows volume, the
Zellerweg a chalky minerality while the Kirchenstück
is as distinguished and salty as never
before. The auction wine from the Zeller
Kreuzberg site is a veritable elixir of limestone.
We honour all this with the fifth star.

Balsamic (new) wood, closed aromas, citrus hints, plus damp
stone. On the palate silky, seamlessly-rounded, generous and
poised with slowly rolling minerality. Dense with a lightness
of touch. This has a great future. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork
fruit, acidity and substance. The acidity is delicious, tightly
woven into the structure, nicely spicy with clear expression

Stone fruit on the nose, also apple, herbs and smoke, the
smell of lingering incense in church. Noble and poised on the
palate, well-balanced with ripe fruit and cultivated acidity
and salty notes underpinning the muscular body. Dense and

Herrgott Riesling GG
Herbaceous and spicy on the nose, coriander, cumin, tangerine.
Powerful on the palate, delicious phenolic, juicy acidity,
tactile, mineral and beautifully balanced. Still youthful and
compact, with very good length and hints of spice to come.
