The wine estate of this ancient charitable
foundation counts amongst the best and
largest in Franken. For years, the vineyards
have been subject to soft pruning, a practice
that paid off particularly in dry years – as
has the careful yield management that includes
bunch-halving and green harvesting. Spontaneous
ferments play an increasing role in the cellar,
especially for Erste Lagen and Grosse Gewächse.
But things are also happening outside wine: a
new website, for instance. Once again these
wines were outstanding: the top Silvaners are
complex and show great potential – the Rieslings
are more than snapping at their heels.

Alluring, delicate light green colour in the glass. Initial scents
are beautifully herbal, almost Mediterranean with hints of
bread crust and lilacs; immensely complex on the nose, which
continues wonderfully on the palate! A beautifully wine that

Pale straw yellow colour. Cool nose, delicate floral scents
paired with stone fruit and delicate spicy notes of anise and
butcher's broom, also fresh hay. On the palate texture and
fine creaminess, simultaneously balanced with fresh acidity
and immense juciness. Very long finish, skilful!

92 2018 Iphofen Julius-Echter-Berg Silvaner GG
Pale straw yellow with delicate green reflections in the
glass. Very mineral nose, also hints of flint, smoke and iodine,
powerful. On the palate there is positive drive, smoky and
long-lasting acidity, extraordinarily animating and still immensely
youthful. Pairs well with food and has ageing potential.

Trockenbeerenauslese
Golden with greenish reflections. Incense, limestone spice,
lilac, flax with complex floral and exotic notes. On the palate
there is enormous tension, tangy acidity, buffered with fruitborne
sweetness. Clarity in all components.

Striking green-golden reflections in the glass. Delicate, almost
herbal nose, mirabelle plums and mimosa. Pleasant
juicy flow on the palate, well embedded acidity, fine
creamy mouthfeel and a refreshingly long finish.
