It is especially with its red wines that Weingut
Heitlinger proves its consistent performance.
Their tendency to hang on to
their Grosse Gewächse for a little while longer
and release them at a slightly more advanced
stage turns out to be a real boon for wine lovers.
Their Königsbecher Spätburgunder from
the 2016 vintage shows just how much potential
slumbers at this Champions League level.
Not a trace of tiredness, but elegance and complexity
reward patience instead. We also liked
the white Pinot-varieties a lot; the Chardonnays
stood out in particular.

Smoky notes on the nose, pear and melon, fine smoky bacon,
also yellow fruit and herbs. With good substance on the palate,
juicy, elegant, spicy and dry, exhibiting tannic and phenolic
tartness, ripe acidity. Good potential that will develop.

Weissburgunder GG
Mirabelle plums, almonds and delicate orange blossoms on
the nose, with slightly smoky notes. Full-bodied and with a
lot of minerality on the palate, which is mixed with subtle
fruit aromas. Gripping, sinewy-muscular body. Wonderful
saltiness in the finish, medium length.

Relatively closed, nuances of peach and fresh pineapple. Soft
and creamy on the palate, taut minerality trumps the fruit by
far - not so usual with this grape variety. A sinewy finish completes

Spätburgunder GG
Wide spectrum of aromas from blackberry to raspberry to
slightly smoky woody notes. Gentle extraction, fine berry
tannins and present but well-integrated acidity. A multi-layered
Pinot that is just about to show its potential.
