Christian Ress, industrious and active,
has run this 1870-founded family estate
since 2010. They own 50 hectares
of vines in sites like Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen
and Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland. Right
from the start it was his aim to make it into one
of the Rheingau’s top estates. Initially he managed
to do this with the assistance of Dirk
Würtz who was later followed by Oliver
Schmid. More recently Stephen Sänger took
over as cellar master. Happily, this upheaval of
personnel changes went well and we tasted a
range of wines at a very high standard. Compliments!

Ripe apple, nutty caramel hints, yellow spiciness, earthy
minerality. Fluid on the palate with gentle, juicy, rich stone
fruit, floral notes. Delicious phenolics, finely integrated acid
structure, charming astringency at the end.

Riesling Spätlese
Spicy, ripe yellow fruit, peach, caramel hints with darker nuances,
finely intricate. Yellow-fruited on the palate, fresh,
juicy acid structure and fine tannin grip. Sweet Golden Delicious
apple, tangerine and nectarine, with delicious herbs.

Riesling Auslese
Honey gold, clear. On the nose evolved notes, citrus, almond,
matchstick, some rose, lavender. On the palate nice balance
between sweetness and acidity, with citrus, sultanas, good
texture, fine grip, very elegant, finely matured, almost almond
biscuit. Nice length. Great extract.

Riesling Auslese
Golden in colour. A hint of Fino, apple skin, but also floral, lilac,
dried pear. On the palate quite plump and soft, silky texture,
ripe acidity and a sweetness completely softened by
ripeness, slightly caramelised aromas on the palate. Finely

Light stone fruit, sweet apple. Delicious and fresh on the
palate. Light, fluid, clear fruit, peach, very fine herbaceousness
and a chiselled acid structure. Citrusy juiciness with
fine grapefruit bitterness on the finish.
