Andreas and Markus Klumpp once
again submitted their white single-site
wines from the 2018 vintage and they
duly benefited from the extra ageing: like the
subtly savoury, mineral Chardonnay from the
Kirchberg site. In 2019 they also added an
Ortswein (i.e. village wine) range which is supposed
to illustrate the typical souls of the region
and vinified deliberately bone-dry. We
immediately loved the Chardonnay “Muschelkalk”
with its freshness and chalky mouthfeel.
The two red Pinots from the 2017 vintage
turned out really well with clear fruit and fine
tannins. They make you want to drink more!

Fine spice, apple peel, flowers and a little smoke on the nose.
Well-balanced. On the palate there is a calm flow and ripe
acidity, yellow apple and tangerine as fruit, some lime juice,
fine spiciness that lasts into the finish with a mineral polish.

some blackberry. Well-balanced on the palate with vivid
fruit, finely-chiselled acidity and ripe, fine-grained tannins
coated in juicy fruit, good structure. An elegant Pinot.

Grauburgunder trocken
Spicy and berry nose, honeydew melon, pear peel and nutty
notes. Shows texture and juice on the palate in combination
with spice, the acidity is present and transports citric notes.
Not a blockbuster but nicely crafted and with elegant facets,
lively. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Pinot Noir trocken
Smoky nose accompanied by cherry, herbal, toasty aromas.
On the palate there is good balance, vivid fruit and the precise
acidity go well together, delicate spice, shows tension
and grippy, ripe tannins, also edge and profile. Burgundian
flair. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Fine spicy nose with smoke and toasty aromas, cherry and

Clearly defined nose with fine spice, flowers, nutty aromas,
mirabelle plums and spices - a whiff of allspice. Soft and
juicy flow on the palate, apple emerges, fine spice, the
wood is integrated, good substance. A clearly-structured
and elegant balanced acidity, citric tones.
