There is nothing mass-produced about
the wines from Weingut Achenbach: all
the wines made by cellar master Frank
Achenbach, who also had stints in New Zealand
and South Africa under his belt, have an
individual signature. This family estate farms
23 hectares in Rheinhessen’s northwest which
are in the process of being converted to organic
farming. This should lend even more site
and province character to these wines. We already
love the mineral Rieslings from these
weathered porphyry soils – like the “Reserve
del Rey”. There is so much potential!

Heerkretz Riesling trocken unfiltriert
Aromas of spontaneous fermentation on the nose, herbs, apple
skin, ripe and dried apricot, some cold charcoal. On the
palate there is juicy sweet yellow fruit, apricot again and a
soft, almost viscous mouthfeel, plus spice and a refined.

palate there is good sweetness-acidity interplay, medium
viscosity, rounded and honey-sweet on the finish, accompanied

Weissburgunder trocken
Smells of white flowers and almonds, also fine apricot and
tangerine as well as spicy notes. Opens softly and velvety on
the palate with mild acidity, powerfully-built but tightly and
smoothly contained. This has lots of substance and will

Herbal scent with apple, pear, fine wood spice and greengage.
On the palate there is a tight and firm structure, juicy
sweet fruit, good density, spicy and well-balanced. It shows
the generosity of the vintage and remains focused.

Trockenbeerenauslese
Initially lactic and estery notes, but they dissipate with air.
Also dried porcini mushroom, walnut, passion fruit. On the

delicate floral scent. On the palate creamy and dense,
juicy, some sweetness with a slightly tart edge, ripe and
smooth acid structure, more apricot, fine minerality with
