There are numerous sceptics who claim
that organic farming is never going to
be fully possible in the steep slopes of
the Ahr. The Maibachfarm estate impressively
proves them wrong. Of course, cultivating
nine hectares of vineyards this way takes additional
effort and is a considerable challenge.
Such heroics demand immense respect, as does
cellar master Alexander Weber’s performance.
He forms part of that ambitious, young generation
of Ahr winemakers. He reveals each
site’s character with great precision. An estate
whose work is groundbreaking.

Blackcurrant and redcurrant and cherry are joined by wood
notes and a hint of lovage. The powerful stature reveals a
fine acidity and sensitively-extracted tannins, good balance,
power, suppleness. Shows the minerality of the Ahr with a
Burgundian feel. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Spätburgunder trocken
Concentrated bouquet with lots of cassis and also black
cherry, flanked by wood spice, coffee beans and dark chocolate;
juicy and fleshy. On the palate there is sweet fruit, lots
of substance, dark berry, ripe acidity and mineral spice.

Wood spice on the nose, dark cherries and cassis, blood
orange and spices, such as juniper berry. Herbal on the nose
with ripe fruit, lots of spice and also punch in a powerful
body. A fine acidic vein, cooked blackberry, lots of substance
that is staged with much liveliness. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Spätburgunder trocken
Cherry, blackcurrant and redcurrant on the nose, with notes
of toffee, smoke and roasted coffee followed by ground ginger,
allspice and a hint of mint. The powerful body is interspersed
with a fine vein of acidity, dark chocolate, dark berries
and a mineral hue. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
90 2018 Spätburgunder trocken
Lush bouquet with ripe cherries and redcurrants, wood
spice and juniper berries. Powerfully built on the palate -
there is strength, volume and spice. The ripe but vivid vein
of acidity provides balance, a good portion of ripe tannins,
full-bodied in the finish. A voluptuous wine.
