Weingut August Eser, now run by the
tenth generation of the family, Désirée
Eser Freifrau zu Knyphausen
and her husband Dodo, once again shows total
Riesling competence – and successfully interprets
two of the Rheingau’s sites: the Kabinett
from the Lenchen site is of elegant character,
the delicious Spätlese from the Doosberg is
dense and mineral. These are Rieslings with
potential which will bring joy for years to
come – like the powerful and phenolic “W”, a
very individual wine. Beyond that, we also recommend
the sparkling wines and Spätburgunder.
A strong, multi-faceted range of wines.

Finely intricate nose with apricot, mango and grated lemon
peel, herbs and caramel. Juicy, supple and also profound on
the palate, the acidity is deliciously integrated, phenolic
tartness and citrus fruit show with fine caramel.

Mango on the nose, apricot and peach, also apple. On the palate
there is crystalline acidity and phenolic astringency, medium
to firm stature, good extract, delicate acidity. Well-balanced
with mineral spiciness that lingers into the finish.

Spätburgunder Barrique trocken
Cherry and toasted aromas on the powerful and aromatic
bouquet, also some violet, rosehip and smoked bacon. On the
palate, the powerful texture is interspersed with a fine acidic
vein, dry impression, good substance and also length, spice,
further potential. 13,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€

Focused nose with peach, caramelised apricot and apricot
kernel, also herbs and some rosemary. On the palate, the fine
acidity dominates and combines with the beautiful fruit
sweetness. Good density and mineral penetration. Great potential.
