A
very sensitive touch can be made out
in each of the wines presented. This
care, especially when it comes to the
clarity of the wines, is telling, as is the equally
sensitive use of fine, smoky oak. Rabea Trautmann,
the young cellar master, deliberately
hones both her craft and style. Hiring her, just
like hiring the right winemaker at Sekthaus
Griesel & Compagnie, was a clever move.
What we see is a very deliberate forming of individual
quality, with a real step up between
estate and village wines which will benefit
from further bottle age.

Smoky, but fine, oak notes still dominate on the nose, yet fine
pear fruit shimmers through. The oak has yet to be integrated
on the palate, too, but the finest phenolics, fruit fullness
and a certain delicacy are promising. 12 Vol.-%, screwcap, €€

The gentle smoke of fine oak mingles on the nose with notes
of textured butter and ripe, yellow pear. The palate then
combines its very own slenderness and clarity with these
round, generous elements. 13 Vol.-%, screwcap, €€

Weissburgunder trocken
Both lemon peel and a hint of dried fruit dance on the nose.
The slender palate is enriched by the flavours, but brightens
them up with its clear freshness and just thrives on its delicacy.
Finally, there is a little butter on the finish.

Spätburgunder trocken
Juicy, ripe Morello cherry flirts from the glasss. A little smoky
almond is also animating. The essential elements of Pinot Noir
are depicted wonderfully; has freshness and texture. And that
in a vintage like 2018 - hats off!! 13,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€

The nose is restrained, a little earthy, but doesn't reveal
much else. The palate is wonderfully lean, juicy, without an
ounce of fat. This makes it an atypical, yet incredibly animating,
representative of this variety, characterised by
