Photographer and sommelier, Hamburg
This trained photographer retired his camera
in 2003 and opened the café bar ‘Das Nuth’ in
Hamburg-Ottensen. Since this was not quite
enough work, he then opened the wine
restaurant ‘Witwenball’ together with his wife
Julia. It is a gastronomic allround experience
offering the finest foods and wines from
artisanal production in an urban atmosphere.
It is also a popular tasting and event space.
PHILIPP ELSBROCK
Food Editor-in-Chief
Falstaff Germany
Philipp Elsbrock mainly focuses on food and
dining subjects for Falstaff Magazine’s German
edition, but his experience in wine tasting,
acquired during years as a wine editor, also
benefits this guide. Elsbrock was born in
Duisburg and has been exploring vineyards –
in the Rheingau and elsewhere – since student
days.
ELISABETH FÜNGERS
Freelance author and columnist, owner of
Restaurant Nil, Hamburg
Elisabeth Füngers was born into a family of
fishmongers, purveyors of fine foods, butchers
and restaurateurs. Catering also runs in her
blood: for thirty years she has owned and run
the wine-focused Restaurant Nil in Hamburg.
Her rare spare moments, when not dedicated
to looking after diners and staff, Füngers
spends as an author of cookery books, taster
and columnist.
ANNE KREBIEHL MW

Falstaff International
Anne Krebiehl MW started her professional
career in London offices but soon found her
calling in wine. She completed her WSET
Diploma in 2010 and became a Master of Wine
in 2014. Since then, Krebiehl has written for
numerous publications, such as The World of
Fine Wine or Wine Enthusiast, for instance. In
January 2021, Krebiehl joined the Falstaff team
as editor-in-chief for the English-language sister
magazine Falstaff International.
