The Schweder family have run their estate
in Hochstadt on the Südlichen
Weinstrasse ever since 1898. There is a
particular focus on Pinot varieties, on their
eighteen hectares of vines which root and
thrive in the deep loam and loess soils. Henrik
Schweder who has stints in the Mosel,
Wachau, Burgundy and California under his
belt, is now the fifth generation responsible for
the estate. This experience clearly flows into
this most convincing range of very well-made
wines – amongst which the well-structured
Spätburgunder was particularly impressive.

Yellow apple on the nose, ripe mirabelle plums, citrus fruit,
guava. Vivid acidity meets subtle residual sweetness on the
palate, ripe yellow fruit - apricot and mango, also lemon
juice. Spicy, compact and linear structure, good balance,
spice and distinctive tartness. 13 Vol.-%. screwcap, €

Cape gooseberry on the fruity nose, exotic fruit aromas such
as papaya, passion fruit and ripe mango. Harmonious interplay
of sweetness and lively acidity on the palate. Good balance
and slender construction is generously rounded.

White blossom on the nose, ripe mirabelle plums, candied almonds
and citrus fruit, also light smoke notes. Supple on the
palate there is a little fruit sweetness, some spritz provides
life, juicy and with texture. A Pinot for many occasions.

Spice, smoke and pine resin on the nose, redcurrants, cherry
and earthy notes, wet leaves. Strong structure with some
pronounced fruitiness. Good substance, not lightweight; a
grown-up Pinot with a lot of ripe tannins on a balsamic foundation
- plentiful. 14 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€

Notes of citrus fruit on the nose, orange peel, apple and
herbs. Juicy and with integrated acidity on the palate. Lean
and tightly built with notes of citrus fruit, kumquat and
grapefruit and fine astringency. Straightforward character
with good momentum. 12,5 Vol.-%, screwcap, €
