Weingut Meinhard was founded in
1885 and is located in Winzenheim
near Bad Kreuznach. It has been run
by Steffen Meinhard from 1990 onwards and he
is now supported by his nephew Matthias Schabler
in vineyards and cellar – who will eventually
take over the estate. Meinhard’s son David has
taken over the estate-owned Weinstube, which
serves the estate’s wines alongside regional cuisine.
The wines they offer are the juicy and
fine-fruited Rieslings – made in a very clean style,
showing the true character of the varieties and
the Pinots also turn out well here, and all of them
come at rather user-friendly prices!

Grauburgunder trocken
Compact nose with ripe pear, apple and quince compote as
well as fine wood spice. Powerful and firmly-built on the palate
and with nice spiciness, juice, texture as well as slight
piquancy and saltiness. A well-proportioned Pinot Gris with
substance and charm. Ideal with food. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €

Uniform on the nose with some yellow fruit, pear, quince and
a hint of vegetable notes. Calm and yet animating. Round,
somewhat compact, yet juicy on the palate, the acidity
weaves itself discreetly into the fruit, complemented by tart

Riesling trocken
Spicy and floral notes open on the nose, citrus fruit, apple
and stone fruit. On the palate, notes of citrus fruit again, underpinned
by fine sweetness, present and ripe acidity that
provides good balance. Salty nuances add to this complex

Spätburgunder trocken
Wood spice, mint, red fruit like cherry and wild berries mingle
on the nose, rosehip also wants to join in. Strong stature on
the palate with prominent tannins that will still increase, the
alcohol is at its sweet spot, juicy fruit, good potential.
