Erich Stachel and his son Matthias have
presented a pronounced classic wine
style: proper when it comes to density,
clearly delineated fruit – for instance in the
barrel-matured Weissburgunder from the Kirrweiler
Römerweg site. The red wines show
Matthias Stachel’s international experience.
With a Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon,
there are three exotic wines on offer
which evidently feel quite at home in the Pfalz:
the tannins are ripe, the aromas have varietal
typicity – the only things these wines still lack
is a little maturity, but, as we know, this will
appear of its own accord.

Weissburgunder trocken
Notes of wood, linden blossom and Brazil nut suggest signs
of development on the nose, but a little more bottle age is
needed for full development. On the palate; burly in structure,
full-bodied and dense; smooth background, seamlessly
integrated acidity - a gastronomic construction.

Cabernet Sauvignon trocken

Flowers on the nose, notes of walnuts and ripe pear and also
stone fruit. On the palate there is beautiful texture and a fine
mousse. Shows ripe acidity, good substance, and is successfully
balanced. Sweet fruit on the palate. Solid - a distinguished

Syrah trocken
Dark chocolate, sultana, yeasty with herbaceous undertones.
Taut tannins on the palate, very dense, slightly astringent
with good freshness and a juicy release of tension. Has

Amarena cherry, spice seasoning, animal notes, dried meat.
On the palate there is good structure, a juicy base, moderate

Vegetal aromas; a little hay and meadow herbs. Juicy and
elegant on the palate. Straightforward and without fuss,
light to medium weight in extract, ripe in acidity. An elegant
varietal style and unobtrusive food wine.
